7 Years/Lukas Graham (Baseball Version)

I’ve returned with a new video. Check out the original song here.

Text:

Once I was 7 years old
My brother told me
Root for St Louis or you’ll be sorry
Once I was 7 years old

It was a tough, tough East
But he thought we were bigger
Bernard Gilkey playing right
And Tewksbury as pitcher
By eleven Smoltz, and Glavine
Maddux and Steve Avery
Atlanta won it every year
With Justice and with Chipper

Once I was 11 years old
My buddy told me
Find another team
Or you’ll be sorry
Once I was 11 years

I always had that dream of seeing Ozzie playing
So, I started hearing games, I started really listening
Something about announcing
Just seemed to make my heart sing
Cos I always loved baseball much more than anything

Once I was 20 years old
I traveled and I heard
Boston had won
And life was lonely
Once I was 20 years old

I only see the rings
I just dismiss the failures
Cos, I know the Baby Birds will someday make the majors
I got the Grichuks, Wachas, and Freese’s
And if they don’t stay I hope that they’re still players

Once I was 20 years old
Living in England
Watching the Cards lose the World Series before me
Once I was 20 years old

Soon we’ll be 30 years old
Our team has not gone cold
We’ve traveled to playoff games and we’re still going
Soon we’ll be 30 years old

I’m still learning about a life
that baseball can be for me
When I try to write it
I try to tell the story
of the Cards still with us
But some are now living in glory
Darryl Kile, Oscar Taveras, Josh Hancock,
I’m still sorry

Soon I’ll be 60 years old, then I’ll be 61
Remember days but don’t long to be too young
I was so happy when I wrote about a game once
I hope my children read a column once or twice a month

Soon I’ll be 60 years old
Will I think the game is cold
Or will I have a lot of ideas to warm me
Soon I’ll be 60 years old

Once I was 7 years old, my brother told me
You better follow the Cards or you be sorry
Once I was 7 years old

Once I was 7 years old
