Wainwright out

It won’t be so awful in three months.

Another pitcher will climb out of the minor leagues, trading $5 lunches for far better options.

He will startle with his curve, his cutter or his sinker.

We may know him now.

Perhaps he doesn’t even know, himself.

But he will take a spot in the St. Louis rotation.

Fans will cheer for his first innings.

Gradually we will feel comfortable with him.

He will let us down, but we will forgive him.

And he will show up when we need him.

When one of the most dominant pitchers in the National League steps out of home plate and ends his season with a pop.

It will turn out.

But it isn’t July yet.
