Stressed by my grad school workload, I measured my available hours for the Bears home opener and came up with … as much as I could stand. By the time I got there I didn’t want to leave. I’m feeling like myself again.
Still, I picked up some frostbite in Alaska and that gift keeps giving when the temps drop below 60, so I huddled by the home dugout and waited for the action. But then the cold broke into my jacket and even standing in the sun didn’t thaw me out. Also, the first couple of innings took an hour. Here’s what happened.
Oklahoma State lost to the Bears during last year’s regionals in Fayetteville. They’re still pretty good. Both teams.
Those kicks. You win this round, Cowboys.
Never mind. Step aside.
And the Bears plated six runs in a couple of innings.
And Tyler McAlister kept striking out two-thirds of the hitters he faced.
But, the Cowboys hit a bit as well, and by the third it was 6-4. Okay, maybe a home run got a little help from the Arctic blast, but it can’t be helped.
And four hours after the game started, the Cowboys took the game 10-8.
But it’s only one.
Onward.
