5th inning, or bless you, Kolten Wong.

Kolten Wong almost helped turn a double play to end an inning with the bases loaded.

Instead, the Cubs scored two runs on a grounder to short.

Jhonny Peralta picked up a ground ball off the bat of Starlin Castro, and flipped the ball to Wong.

After the force out at 2nd, Wong threw high to 1st.

Two runs scored. The Cubs led 4-1.

Perhaps he wanted to hit. Perhaps he wanted to hide.

But he led off to start the inning, knocking a ball off the right field wall and stopping at 2nd, himself.

Peter Bourjos stood in the box and felt a ball bounce off his left arm.

Jon Jay knocked a fly ball far, far away.

It was caught.

And then Matt Carpenter walked to the plate.

He raked the dirt with toes.

Then he stretched.

He took a strike.

Then he swung.

And it was 4-4.
